One-on-Ones
A way to do them:
- Send the agenda 24hrs in advance and request your report does the same, set calendar events
- Meet for 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on what the report needs, newer employees likely need more time
- Don't reschedule or cancel frequently, exceptions are fine
- Do a mood check; how are you, what went well this week, what didn't go well
- Set the agenda collaboratively, prioritize the most important items
- Get aligned on your reports priorities for the next week
- Have your report walk you through their metrics and provide context
- Go through other discussion items, provide feedback, problem solve
- Provide a summary of the conversation
- Elicit feedback - what can I start, stop, keep doing or how can I help are good questions to start with
- All done
